Who we are, and the work in question

Domestic appliance repair, carried out inside the town of Addison, Texas. Jobs take place at the address given when the booking was made, and the technician brings the tooling and the components the work calls for.

How a booking comes into existence

A booking comes into being at the point where a day and a window for arrival have been settled with you over the telephone. A submission through this website is a request for a visit, not a confirmed slot; somebody rings you to settle the particulars.

What diagnosis costs

Any visit other than a guarantee visit carries a diagnostic fee. The same applies in a home and in a commercial setting, and the fee is not returnable. Its size is quoted to you before a van leaves, it buys the trip out together with the work of locating the fault, and you undertake to pay it whether or not a repair follows. Should a repair follow, the amount comes off what you finally owe.

A quote follows diagnosis, covering the approximate cost of components and of labor, with sales tax included where it applies. Accepting the service is acceptance of that quote and of the scope written into it. No work begins without your agreement, and should a second and unrelated fault come to light part-way through, the work halts and the position is discussed before anything else happens.

Payment

Payment falls due as the work completes. Cash and the common card types are both taken. Every job ends with an invoice broken out line by line, showing components, labor, and the date on which the guarantee expires.

Components

Components are new, unless something else has been agreed with you specifically. Where a manufacturer original has been discontinued or cannot be obtained, you hear about it before any equivalent is fitted. Where a part has to be ordered specially, for a premium model or one long out of production, payment may be required up front; that is always flagged ahead of time.

Access, and working safely

Reaching the appliance, and a safe space around it to work in, are your side of the arrangement. In a building with controlled entry that undertaking extends to arranging access with the desk, the leasing office, or whoever else holds the key.

A technician is entitled to stop where conditions are unsafe. Standing water, exposed wiring, or a suspected gas escape serious enough to require the utility to attend first all qualify. Where a machine is built in, or boxed by cabinetry such that extracting it carries a real risk of damage, that risk is explained to you and the work proceeds only if you agree to it.

Limits on liability

Damage caused by our work is covered by liability insurance that we hold.

Damages of a special, incidental, indirect or consequential kind fall outside what we answer for, and that holds whether a claim is brought as breach of guarantee, as breach of contract, in negligence, or on any further legal footing tied to this agreement. On every route the ceiling is identical: whatever you paid us for the job concerned.

Machines we are entitled to turn down

Three conditions let us refuse a machine. The reason is stated at the time, and what is owed for diagnosis stands exactly as on any other call-out:

  • Previously opened or part-dismantled by somebody unqualified
  • Showing damage from fire or from flooding
  • Subject to an outstanding manufacturer recall

Governing law

This page falls under Texas law throughout. No sentence on it reduces a consumer protection already granted to you by state statute or by federal statute.

Risk in moving an appliance

Drawing a machine out of its housing, or away from a wall, carries a genuine risk: to flooring, to counters, to cabinetry, to the appliance itself, and to whatever is connected behind it. Where you ask for a machine to be moved, that risk passes to you, and damage arising from the movement is not something we are liable for.

Risk on appliances connected to plumbing

Machines joined to a water supply can leak at points that have nothing to do with the repair — hoses, valves and fittings beyond the appliance among them. Water damage arising from pre-existing plumbing, from supply lines we did not install, or from a failure occurring after the visit has ended, is not our liability.

Risk on refrigeration equipment

Refrigeration work means sealed systems and refrigerant held under pressure. The outcome turns on the age of the unit and the state of the compressor, and no successful repair can be promised on equipment that has reached the end of its life. Spoiled food and other lost contents are not recoverable from us.

Risk on glass and ceramic surfaces

Glass and ceramic cooktops can fracture during entirely normal servicing, because stress is often already present in the material before anybody touches it. Where such a surface has to be handled in order to reach a fault, that risk passes to you, and breakage occurring in the course of the work is not our liability.

The entire agreement

These terms, taken together with the quote and the invoice for a particular job, constitute the whole of the agreement between us in respect of that job. Nothing said in conversation adds to them, and nothing said in conversation subtracts from them.
